Lacey To Host Overdose Awareness Event Aug. 30

LACEY – Join Lacey Township and Young People in Recovery of Ocean County for an Overdose Awareness event on August 30, 6 to 9 p.m., at the Lacey United Methodist Church.

Hosted by Fed Up, a local organization working against the opioid epidemic, the event aims to educate and spread awareness about substance abuse and the opioid epidemic.

The event will feature various speakers including:

  • Congressman Tom MacArthur
  • Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato
  • Lacey Township Police Chief Michael C. DiBella

You will also have the chance to hear from representatives from treatment centers, recovery groups, and local clergy, such as: Lifeline Recovery Support Services, Hope Sheds Light, Young People in Recovery of Ocean County, Recovery Centers of America, the DART Prevention Coalition, NJ Reentry Corporation, Integrity House, Mental Health Association in New Jersey Inc, and America’s Keswick.

The event will also feature a candle light vigil for lives lost due to an overdose.

This event is free and open to the public.
