WARETOWN – Fire departments put out a shed fire that was spreading to a home in the area before there was substantial damage or injuries.

The Waretown Fire Department reported that they arrived in the area of Letts Landing and Poplar Street on February 26. A shed fire was spreading to an adjacent property and that homeowner’s shed. A home was in danger due to radiant heat melting the siding.

The fire was extinguished without injuries by the Waretown and Forked River Fire Departments. Firefighters said they cooled the siding and checked the home for fire and hotspots inside.

The Ocean Township Police Department and Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
