BARNEGAT – Fire crews battled a house fire in the Pebble Beach section of town Friday evening, bringing the blaze under control after several hours.

The Barnegat Fire Company said units were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. When Chief 1100 arrived, firefighters confirmed a working structure fire. Crews operated for about three hours, extinguishing the flames and conducting overhaul to make sure the home and nearby residences were secure.

Assistance came from Stafford, Waretown and Lacey fire departments, along with Barnegat and Stafford EMS. Lanoka Harbor firefighters provided coverage for other calls in town during the incident.

The department also credited its Ladies Auxiliary and partner agencies for their support, calling the response “great teamwork by all involved to keep our community safe.”

No injuries were immediately reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
