BARNEGAT – A single-car crash that happened on Route 72 brought down a utility pole with live wires, police said.

Around 5:45 p.m. on September 14, Stafford Township Police Dispatch received the report regarding a car accident on Route 72 just west of the Route 610/ 532 intersection.

A silver 2015 Ford F150 operated by a 46-year-old man from Barnegat, left the roadway while traveling east and struck a utility pole, Captain Jason Carroll of the Barnegat Police Department told Jersey Shore Online.

As a result of the collision, the pole landed on the car with live wires. The driver remained inside the car until Atlantic City Electric responded to secure power to the wires. Once power was secured, he was removed from the car and transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries.
