STAFFORD – A Lanoka Harbor man was arrested for a DWI after colliding with a Stafford Police vehicle during a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 on Sunday, Feb. 3.

William Dippolito Jr., 31, was traveling northbound in a 2011 silver Ford Edge on Route 9 when he struck Stafford Ptl. Luna’s vehicle while Luna was conducting a motor vehicle stop near the Southern Regional High School.

After the collision, Dippolito fled the scene only to be stopped by Officer Wiatrowski on Route 9 northbound near Marybell Road. Ptl. Conner and Ptl. DeMarco assisted Officer Wiatrowski on the scene.

An investigation led to Dippolito’s arrest for DWI. He was later processed at Stafford Police headquarters, released, and issued numerous summonses, including DWI, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident and Failing to Report a Motor Vehicle Accident.

“Thankfully, Ptl. Luna was not injured, but his patrol vehicle was towed from the scene,” stated Stafford Police.
