STAFFORD – The intersection of Route 72 and Nautilus Drive is known for being dangerous, especially with people making left turns.
On August 31, at around 4:20 p.m., two vehicles collided there, police said. Alejandro Almonte, 27, of New York, was traveling west on Route 72 in his Hyundai. Sharon Simcox, 47, of Manahawkin, was traveling east in her Durango. She attempted to make a left onto Nautilus. The vehicles collided and the Durango was overturned.
Both cars were severely damaged and traffic had to be redirected for about 30 minutes, police said.
Simcox was brought to nearby Southern Ocean Medical Center for minor injuries.
Stafford police thanked the Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Stafford Township Volunteer EMS for their assistance on scene.
