LACEY – Students interested in exploring a career in law enforcement and will be eighth-graders in September can participate in the Junior Police Academy, July 15-18.
Applications are available in the main office at Lacey Township Middle School. Completed applications are due to the office May 10. The parents of accepted students will be notified of an upcoming meeting and $50 registration fee.
The program can accommodate 30 recruits.
Recruits will observe a mock crime scene and work together to collect evidence, process fingerprints, use K-9s to track information, interview and interrogate suspects and witnesses, and testify in court.
The students must also daily participate in physical fitness regimen and military etiquette.
Recruits will be provided a daily uniform and lunch.
This is not a program for at-risk or troubled youth. Applicants can’t have disciplinary issues and must be able to work well independently and in groups. For more information, call Lt. Chris Cornelius or Det. Charles May at 609-693-6636.
