Will This Weekend’s Snow Be As Bad As Last Weekend?

OCEAN COUNTY – Forecasters are calling for snow this weekend, even as the temperatures were practically spring-like on Friday afternoon.

Will it be as bad as last weekend? Depends where you are. Last weekend dumped inches of snow and had gusts of wind that made driving dangerous.

Expect snow on Sunday, Weather.com predicted. Meteorologist Ari Sarsalari called it a “coast scraper” because of its location along the shore. “You’re going to know it’s there, but it won’t be as big as the last one.”

The National Weather Service has Ocean and Monmouth counties under a winter storm watch. This means it could accumulate to more than 5 inches in some places. They are calling for a mix of snow and sleet, so even if it’s not a lot of deep snow, there will be dangerous driving conditions.

It is expected to start Saturday night and progress into Sunday. It will start as rain before the snow comes down. This means the roads could already be wet or icy before any major accumulation.

During last week’s snowstorm, some communities barely got two inches while some spots in Jackson got much more. Jackson is again being mentioned for this weekend’s snowfall by the National Weather Service. Long Beach Island was also singled out by the NWS, while at the same time noting that shore communities might have warmer temperatures.
