SEASIDE HEIGHTS – One person has died and six others are recovering after being pulled from the ocean Monday evening, officials said.
The Seaside Heights Fire Department said crews responded just before 7 p.m. to reports of swimmers in distress at the Webster Avenue Beach. All seven people were rescued from the water, but one later died at the hospital.
Officials said there were 12 water rescues over the weekend, all involving rip currents on unguarded beaches.
