OCEAN COUNTY – Prescribed burning will start throughout the county Tuesday.
A Nixle alert sent out by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department said there would be controlled burning in Little Egg Harbor, Lacey, Manchester townships, and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Residents and motorists should expect smoke in the area.
The New Jersey Fire Service has used prescribed burnings since 1928 to reduce the underbrush—the fuel for fires—to help prevent forest fires.
