Police Identify Driver Killed In Early Morning Parkway Crash

  TOMS RIVER – New Jersey State Police have identified the driver killed in the fatal car crash on the Garden State Parkway Friday.

  The driver, 54-year-old Donna Davis from Branchville, died after her van collided into a guardrail and flipped, officials said.

  The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. near mile-marker 87.3 on the southbound side of the parkway in Toms River, state police said.

  According to Sgt. Alejandro Goez, the van went off the road to the right, hitting the guardrail and overturning, causing both the driver and passenger to be ejected from the car.

  Davis was brought to Community Medical Center and later pronounced dead at the hospital due to her injuries.

  The passenger, identified as 38-year-old Christie Ledney of Branchville, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Goez said.

  At this time, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
