LAKEWOOD – A local man had to be extricated from his car Sunday evening after an alcohol-induced crash, police said.
Around 9 p.m., officers responded to the area of New Hampshire Avenue and South Street regarding a single car accident. At the scene, officers found an overturned 2009 Toyota Highlander in the woods.
Trapped inside was the driver, 32-year-old Jessi Brito of Lakewood, and first responders extricated him from the car. He was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of neck, shoulder and back pain.
Assisting at the scene were the Lakewood Fire Department, EMS and Hatzolah.
After investigation, police discovered that Brito was under the influence while operating his vehicle and was charged accordingly.
