POINT PLEASANT BEACH – A 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with Theft after an officer witnessed him steal items from a garage on Sunday afternoon, police said.

While on patrol in the area of Sanborn and Baltimore avenues, Officer Jeffery Latshaw saw a suspicious man enter a home that was not his. Latshaw later saw the man exit the garage with multiple stolen items.

The suspect, 41-year-old Jason Pascale of Point Pleasant Beach, was arrested and charged with Burglary and Theft. He was processed and brought to the Ocean County Jail.

Mayor Paul Kanitra thanked Chief Bob Kowalewski and Officer Latshaw for the great work they did for making this arrest.

“Neighbors have previously reported their concerns about suspicious activity in this area. The Chief took these concerns seriously and increased patrols significantly,” Kanitra said. “It obviously still took an incredibly skilled eye from Officer Latshaw to recognize the situation and respond appropriately. Point Pleasant Beach owes them both a strong round of applause for a job well done.”

Police are asking residents to report and suspicious activity they see to the department.
