LAKEWOOD — A Lakewood woman was arrested after police said a fraud investigation tied her to more than $1,000 in unauthorized charges on a resident’s bank account.

The investigation began Feb. 10, when Lakewood police took a report from a resident who found the charges on her account, authorities said.

Detectives later obtained records from several online service providers and identified the suspect as Kelly Bragg, 53, of Lakewood, police said. Investigators said Bragg had previously worked for a local transportation service used by the victim.

Police filed criminal charges May 11, including multiple counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and theft by deception.

On June 15, officers received information about Bragg’s location and coordinated efforts to arrest her, police said. She was taken into custody without incident, processed at Lakewood Police Headquarters and brought to the Ocean County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.

Chief Gregory Meyer praised the officers involved, saying the arrest reflected “thorough investigative work” and a commitment to protecting residents from people who try to take advantage of others.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
