Ocean County Men Killed By Boat Capsizing

NEWPORT, OREGON. – A news outlet in Oregon reported that two Ocean County men were confirmed dead by the Coast Guard after the boat they were on capsized Tuesday night in 12- to 14-foot seas in Yaquina Bay.

  James Lacey, 48, of South Toms River, was found dead by the Coast Guard, and was recovered by a helicopter. The skipper, Stephen Biernacki, 50, of Barnegat, was found dead with the boat.

  There were only three people on board. The third, Joshua Porter, 50, from Oregon, was found dead on a nearby beach.

  They reportedly had been aboard the 42-foot Dungeness crab fishing boat, the Mary B II. It had capsized, and eventually ran aground.

  Someone aboard the boat had called the Coast Guard for assistance at around 10 p.m. It is believed that the boat capsized soon after.
