LAKEWOOD – A local man was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, and another was charged with trying to take the fall for him.
The incident happened on Nov. 25 at about 7 a.m., when police said there was a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of West County Line Road and Cedar Row. A 2019 Chevrolet Suburban had crashed into a tree. While the driver was critically injured, the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The other car involved had fled the scene.
Police said they traced the 2018 Nissan Sentra to a home in Lakewood. There, they found Mashon Wilson, 29, Shayna Lee, 49, and Iyanna Hall, 30, all of Lakewood. Lee and Hall told police that Lee was driving, when subsequent investigation revealed it to be Wilson.
Wilson was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident as well as causing a death while driving with a suspended license. Lee and Hall were both charged with hindering the apprehension of another by giving a false statement.
Police reminded readers that defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
