POINT PLEASANT – One local resident is $20,000 richer thanks to a Mega Millions ticket they bought.
The ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 701 Route 88, according to the New Jersey Lottery Commission. It was for the Mega Millions drawing held on Tuesday, January 19. The third tier prize matched four of the five white balls and the gold ball. The purchaser had used the Megaplier option, so it paid out $20,000 instead of $10,000.
Seven other tickets were for $10,000.
Two tickets won $1 million, but they weren’t sold around here.
The jackpot is up to $970 million and the next drawing will be held on Friday, January 22. If won, it would be the 2nd largest jackpot in the game’s history and the 3rd largest jackpot in US lottery history. The estimated cash value is $716.3 million.
