OCEAN COUNTY – It’s been 28 years, and still no answers about a Beachwood man’s death.

Todd Sonnenfeld was last seen alive June 1, 1990, leaving the Spirits Sports Bar on Route 37 in Toms River. Remains were found in Berkeley the following January by a man walking his dog near power lines in town.

A Feb. 16, 1991 Asbury Park Press article said the skeleton was clad in “blue jeans, white socks, and low-cut sneakers,” with a T-shirt saying “Daytona Speedway” across the chest. The missing person’s poster had listed that as Sonnenfeld’s last known outfit the night of June 1.

Authorities back then suspected foul play, and are still pursuing the man’s death as a homicide.
