SEASIDE HEIGHTS — In the midst of the hustle and bustle of Seaside’s big Polar Plunge event on Feb. 23, an Eatontown man was airlifted to a local hospital after being struck by an SUV, according to police.

While crossing east through the intersection at Grant and Central Avenues, the 67-year old man was hit by a GMC Arcadia. The SUV, driven by a 56-year-old woman from Pompton Plains, was traveling west on Grant Avenue turning on Central Avenue when the accident occurred, police said.

The man was later airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he remains in stable condition.

  The accident remains under investigation.
