TOMS RIVER – A Lakewood man admitted in court to distributing child sexual abuse material and now faces a lengthy prison term, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.
Christopher Brondi, 67, pleaded guilty on September 15 before Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer to one count of distribution of child sexual abuse material. Prosecutors said they will seek a 10-year state prison sentence, including five years without parole. Brondi would also remain under lifetime parole supervision and be required to register under Megan’s Law.
Authorities began investigating Brondi after the prosecutor’s High Tech Crime Squad traced an internet address to his Lakewood residence. Detectives executed a search warrant in May 2024 and recovered electronic devices containing nearly 1,000 illegal files, officials said. A more detailed review showed Brondi had uploaded more than two dozen images through a file-sharing network.
He was taken into custody at the time but later released under New Jersey’s bail reform rules.
Billhimer credited Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Shanon Chant-Berry and members of the High Tech Crime Squad for their work in securing Brondi’s arrest and guilty plea.
Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
