Man Arrested For Cash Theft

  POINT PLEASANT – A man was recently arrested and charged with theft after stealing $2,200 in cash from a coworker, police said.

  On Jan. 17, police responded to 2506 Lakewood Road for reports of a verbal dispute regarding a theft of money. Before the officers arrived on the scene, the suspect had fled on foot.

  Point Pleasant Officer Popiel and K9 Juno joined in the search for the suspect who was later located and apprehended on Hastings Lane. The suspect was identified as 30-year old Robert P. Ryan of Brielle.

  Ryan reportedly took $2,200 from the victim’s wallet, which was later located nearby by officers.

  Ryan was charged with 3rd degree theft by unlawful taking, 4th degree obstructing administration of law and disorderly persons defiant trespassing. He was transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility on an arrest warrant pending a detention hearing.
