LAKEWOOD – A township man is facing an aggravated arson charge after authorities said he deliberately set a fire outside a Lakewood home.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said investigators determined that 36-year-old Tysan Davis was responsible for starting the blaze at the Fairway Villas complex on September 25.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene around 4:45 p.m. and found smoldering clothing and an air conditioning condenser in flames. Crews quickly put out the fire.

An investigation by the prosecutor’s office arson squad, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office crime scene unit, Lakewood detectives and the county fire marshal concluded the fire was intentionally set using an open flame and liquid accelerant.

Davis was later taken into custody at Lakewood police headquarters and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he awaits a detention hearing.

Billhimer praised the multiple agencies involved for their joint effort in the case.
