TOMS RIVER – A former Harvey Cedars police sergeant was today sentenced to two years supervised probation after pleading guilty to a third-degree theft charge.

Sean Marti, 49, of Stafford, was also barred from returning to the police department or any future public employment in New Jersey.

An investigation revealed that Marti kept and used an all-terrain vehicle as his own after a resident donated it for the department’s use back in 2017.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office recovered the ATV in December 2018.

Marti must make restitution by returning the ATV to its owner.
