LAKEWOOD – One man has been fired from his job with Waste Management after a video circulating on social media shows him plowing snow onto two Orthodox Jewish pedestrians on Saturday.

Once the video picked up several views and comments online, the company finally put out a statement regarding the incident.

“While the incident did not involve a company vehicle or company equipment, the employee associated with this social media post is no longer employed with Waste Management,” the company said. “The conduct of this former employee is unacceptable and not in accordance with WM’s code of conduct, commitments and values.”

In the now deleted video, a truck is driving along a snow-covered street in Lakewood. Two men in traditional Orthodox clothing can be seen walking along the road. As the passenger in the truck records the video, the driver proceeds to throw the snow onto the pedestrians and the two workers can be heard laughing afterwards.

Waste Management did not confirm whether it was the driver or the passenger who was fired.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said that no charges have been filed against either of the employees in the truck, however the incident is still under investigation.

“We are grateful for the communication and understanding shared at the meeting,” Waste Management said in their statement after meeting up with leaders from the Jewish community. “We agree that acts of hate against any community cannot be tolerated and we are committed to the safety of the Jewish community.”
