Code Blue Overnight Shelters Open Again Tonight

OCEAN COUNTY – Three shelters will be made available overnight on Feb. 20 as part of the Code Blue program that helps keep homeless people safe in low temperatures.

The following locations will be made available:

  • Riverwood Park Recreation Center, Riverwood Drive (Off Whitesville Road), Toms River, Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
  • Lakewood Community Center, 20 4th Street, Lakewood, 9 p.m. – 8 a.m.
  • Greater Bethel Church of God, 201 Martin Luther King Drive, Lakewood, 8:30 p.m. – 7 a.m.

Additionally, the Toms River shelter will also be open from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m. on the nights of Feb. 21 – 22. A van will be bringing people there from Shore Vineyard Church in South Toms River, and the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library at 5 p.m.
