SEASIDE HEIGHTS – Select CVS stores will be part of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, according to the national chain.

Locally, only the one in Seaside Heights will be a part of the program. As of press time, the portion of the CVS website connected to New Jersey locations was not operational. Additional sites will also eventually have them but not during the initial rollout.

The vaccinations would begin on February 11, store representatives said. The store chain will have 250,000 doses to be used across 11 states. They intend on expanding the program as long as they have vaccines to do so. They are receiving the vaccines directly from the federal government through the pharmacy partnership program.

“Our presence in communities across the country makes us an ideal partner for administering vaccines in a safe, convenient, and familiar manner,” said Karen S. Lynch, President and Chief Executive Officer, CVS Health. “This is particularly true for underserved communities, which have been a focus for us throughout the pandemic.”

Ideally, the store chain could administer 20-25 million shots per month, officials said, if they had the vaccines available.
