NEW JERSEY – A Newark man and four others have been indicted for their roles in a high-end auto theft and burglary ring that targeted homes in Monmouth and Ocean counties, New Jersey’s attorney general announced.
Samir White, 19, is accused of leading a crew that broke into homes in towns including Wall, Sea Girt, Bay Head, Lakewood, and Holmdel to steal luxury vehicles, firearms, jewelry, and designer items. The group is believed to have stolen more than $700,000 in vehicles between September 2024 and February 2025.
White and co-defendants Quamine McDonald, Samir Jordan, Tysir Philips, and Tauheed McLean face charges including conspiracy, burglary, auto theft, and weapons offenses.
Among the alleged crimes:
- A 2024 Land Rover stolen from Wall on September 24
- A 2023 BMW X7 taken from Lakewood on November 18
- A Porsche 911 and loaded firearm stolen from Wall on December 11
- A Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon taken from Bay Head on December 13
- Multiple break-ins in Sea Girt on December 22, with vehicles and designer goods stolen
- A Range Rover stolen in Holmdel on January. 8 while a parent picked up a child at school
Some stolen vehicles were later found in the Bronx.
Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said the crimes endangered residents, noting the suspects often broke into homes to retrieve vehicle key fobs. Authorities tied White to the incidents using surveillance footage and phone data.
The case was led by the New Jersey State Police with assistance from local departments in Monmouth and Ocean counties. If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison. All are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
