TOMS RIVER – John Applegate, who had gone missing four days ago, was discovered lifeless by a family friend, police said.
The 32-year-old Beachwood resident had been missing since March 24. He was found in a small area of water between Lakehurst Road and Route 37 in Toms River.
Police had put his picture out to social media for people to keep an eye out for him. Ultimately, he was found by a family friend who had volunteered to assist with the search.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer thanked the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Toms River Police, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, and the many volunteers who participated in the search for Mr. Applegate.
