OCEAN COUNTY — Two California residents have been charged in connection with a home invasion in Point Pleasant Borough in which a gunshot was fired, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Friday.

Jaheim Wilson, 23, of Stockton, was charged with home invasion burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Oleyah Brown, 21, also of Stockton, was charged with home invasion burglary.

Police said that at about 1:38 p.m. Aug. 7, officers responded to a Barton Avenue home after reports of a break-in and gunfire. Investigators determined a man with a handgun and a woman kicked open the rear door while the resident was inside, stole personal property, and the man fired a single round before both fled.

Detectives identified Wilson and Brown as suspects and took them into custody around 11 p.m. the same day in Toms River without incident. Both are being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Billhimer credited the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Narcotics Strike Force, Point Pleasant Borough Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit for their work on the case.
