13 Displaced In Lakewood Condo Fire

LAKEWOOD — A fire tore through a multi-unit residential building Tuesday morning on Hickory Court, displacing 13 residents but causing no injuries, authorities said.

The Lakewood Fire Department responded around 8:05 a.m. and arrived within six minutes to find heavy fire conditions in a three-story building at 2012 Hickory Court. The blaze escalated to a second alarm, bringing 12 fire companies, 50 firefighters, and 30 support personnel to the scene.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about two hours, containing significant damage to two units. Six additional units sustained smoke and water damage.

The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Lakewood fire officials praised the swift, coordinated response of all agencies involved.
