TRENTON – A state grand jury handed up indictments against an Atlantic County woman in connection with crimes committed at an Ocean County rehabilitation center.

Christine Sanford, 31, of Atlantic City, was charged with forgery, identify theft, and “uttering of false government documents,” according to the New Jersey State Attorney General’s Office. She was indicted Monday.

Sanford is accused of assuming a false identity to work as a certified nurse aide at the Barnegat Rehabilitation and Nursing Center last November.

Her nurse’s aide certification had been revoked in 2017 after the New Jersey Department of Health found she was unqualified for certification.

If found guilty, she faces up to 5 years in prison and a $15,000 fine per count.
