TRENTON – Robert A. Nixon of Ocean County has been named Chairman of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA) Board of Directors.

While Nixon has been Acting Director since June 2018, Governor Phil Murphy made the title of Director official in December 2018.

“It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Chair of the SDA Board of Directors as I strongly believe in the Authority’s mission of building state-of-the-art schools for hundreds of thousands of New Jersey school children,” said Nixon. “Together with the new leadership of the SDA, I am confident that this Board will continue to positively impact the lives of students and the surrounding communities.”

Nixon has served as a member of the SDA Board of Directors since 2010, nominated at the time by Governor Corzine. Since 2012, he has also served as Chair of the Audit Committee.

“I applaud Governor Phil Murphy for recognizing that Rob Nixon has been a strong acting chairman for our organization since June 2018,” said SDA CEO Lizette Delgado Polanco. “In my time as CEO at SDA, I have enjoyed working cooperatively with Mr. Nixon and the rest of the SDA board to oversee Authority operations and school projects that are helping to improve the quality of life and quality of education for New Jersey school children.”

In addition to his new title, Nixon is the Director of Government Affairs for the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association, and the Founder and President of the government affairs firm State House Strategies. He has also been a government affairs professional in New Jersey since 1995, with a specialty in the legislative process.

Nixon also works as an Adjunct Professor at the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania, his alma mater.
