TRENTON – A Middlesex County man was sentenced to prison for attempting to lure to his residence a 14-year-boy for sex. Turns out, that “boy” was an undercover New Jersey State Police detective.

Craig M. Dimonda, 38, will serve 5 years in prison. He was sentenced by Middlesex County Superior Court Judge Benjamin S. Bucca Jr. Friday.

Dimonda pleaded guilty back in March to charges of luring and attempted distribution of child pornography.

Once released, he’ll have to register as a sex offender and will be subject to parole for life.

Dimonda carried on a 3-month sexually explicit texting and online correspondence with the detective, who was posing as a 14-year-old boy. Dimonda described sex acts he wanted to engage in with the boy, and requested he send him explicit photos of himself. Dimonda finally asked that they meet at a convenience store in Sayreville, so he could take the boy back to his home for sex. When Dimonda arrived at the agreed upon day and time, he was met by State Police detectives instead.
