MATAWAN – The YMCA of the Jersey Shore will host a free open house connecting residents with mental health, addiction recovery and family support resources.

“Passport to Wellness” will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 25 at YMCA Counseling & Social Services, 166 Main St., Matawan.

The event is open to anyone interested in learning about behavioral health programs available in the community. Parents, caregivers, educators, healthcare workers, law enforcement officers, referral partners, business owners and college students pursuing careers in behavioral health are also encouraged to participate.

Visitors will receive a wellness passport and explore stations throughout the facility. YMCA employees will explain their programs, answer questions, distribute resources and stamp guests’ passports at each stop.

“Sometimes the hardest part of seeking help is simply knowing where to begin,” said Alison Lehnert, director of outpatient services. “We want the Passport to Wellness event to make it easy and comfortable for people to meet our team, ask questions, and discover the resources available to themselves and the people they care about.”

Information will also be available about the Bayshore Family Success Center, senior services offered through Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey, and assistance with insurance coverage and billing.

Light refreshments from area eateries will be served. Guests may also enter to win a door prize featuring donations from local businesses and a one-month YMCA membership.

Admission is free. Walk-ins are welcome, although advance registration is encouraged. The RSVP form is available by clicking here.
