MONMOUTH COUNTY – Two lucky people are $10,000 richer today. Or, perhaps one lucky person is $20,000 richer.

In either case, two winning lottery tickets were sold in Monmouth County for the Mega Millions, according to the NJ Lottery Commission. These were third-tier prizewinners, matching four of the five white balls and the gold ball on the January 12 drawing.

They were sold at the 7-Eleven, located at 2145 Route 35, in Holmdel; and the brilliantly named 6-12 Convenience Store, located at 1 South Main St., in Marlboro.

There were seven other third-tier prizewinners in other counties. Someone in Hudson won a million.

However, no one won the jackpot, which is anticipated to be $750,000,000. This will be drawn on Friday, January 15. The drawing is at 11 p.m. and the ticket must be purchased before 10:45 p.m.

Somehow this is only the 2nd largest jackpot in the game’s history. The estimated cash value is $550.6 million.
