Shore Man Killed In Neptune Collision

  NEPTUNE – An Asbury Park man was fatally injured after being struck by a motor vehicle in Neptune Township on Saturday, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

  At approximately 5 a.m. on Feb. 2, 69-year old Rodney Parks was walking near Route 18 near mile marker 8.4 when he was struck by a 2018 Mazda CX-5 traveling northbound in the right lane. Parks sustained life-threatening injuries in the incident. He was pronounced dead at 5:24 a.m.

  Trevor Manning, of Brick, the driver of the 2018 Mazda CX-5 was uninjured in the collision.

  Route 18 was closed from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. between mile markers 8.4 and 10 while the crash was being investigated.

  The incident remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Neptune Township Police Department and Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
