FREEHOLD – A 20-year-old Freehold Borough resident is facing multiple serious charges following a shooting that injured two people, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.
Jordan Woolfolk has been charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, as well as second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree hindering.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:25 a.m. December 16, when Freehold Borough police responded to reports of gunfire on Jackson Street. When officers arrived, they located a victim who had been struck by a bullet.
A woman who was wounded in the shooting was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. A second individual was also taken to a hospital and later released after being treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau, working alongside the Freehold Borough Police Department, conducted an investigation that resulted in Woolfolk being identified as the suspected shooter, authorities said.
Woolfolk was arrested later that day and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, where he remains in custody awaiting his first court appearance in Monmouth County Superior Court.
Investigators continue to seek information from the public. Anyone with details related to the shooting is asked to contact Major Crimes Bureau Detective Kayla Santiago at 800-533-7443 or Freehold Borough Detective Maurizio DeGrande at 732-462-1233.
The prosecution is being handled by Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Bogner, who oversees the Major Crimes Bureau. No information was immediately available regarding Woolfolk’s legal counsel.
