OCEAN TOWNSHIP – Police urge everyone to keep their cars locked after a man was arrested and charged for stealing from an Ocean Township woman’s car.

Police responded to Monmouth Road at around midnight on Tuesday morning for a report of an unknown subject inside a woman’s vehicle. Ocean Township Police later caught up to 33-year old Edward J. McGrath at a 7-Eleven after he ran from police.

Police detained and identified McGrath as the burglary suspect, finding him in possession of several items which police believe are from other burglaries. McGrath also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Anyone with information or anyone that believes they are a victim of a burglary that occurred during the overnight hours is encouraged to contact Detective Michael Legg of the Ocean Township Police Department.

As always, police remind everyone to lock your vehicles and remove all valuables from view.
