Monmouth County Man Involved In Shooting Incident Arrested

NEPTUNE – A Monmouth County man who was involved in a shooting outside a local box store has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, police said. 

  On May 5, Neptune Township Police Department responded to an apparent shooting at 3755 State Highway 66. When officers arrived, they found one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital for the non-life-threatening gunshot injury.

  After conducting an investigation, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Neptune Township Police identified the shooter as Mark Ruffin Jr., 22, of Neptune Township.

  Ruffin Jr. was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of weapon.

  If convicted of attempted murder, Ruffin Jr. faces up to 20 years in a New Jersey state prison. If convicted of the weapons offenses, he faces up to 10 years in a state prison.
