Monmouth County Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

  MONMOUTH COUNTY – An Asbury Park man been arrested and charged for attempted murder in connection with a shooting incident in Keansburg.

  On March 23, the Keansburg Police Department responded to a 911 call about a shooting incident on Raritan Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a shattered front window at the residence.

  After a joint investigation by Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Keansburg Police, it was revealed that the suspect, Javione Pearson, 20, of Asbury Park, was walking on Raritan Avenue when he shot at three individuals in a passing vehicle. Police discovered that one of the three shots had shattered the window of the unrelated neighboring home.

  Pearson was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of weapon and one count of disorderly persons simple assault.

  If convicted of attempted murder, Pearson faces up to 20 years in a New Jersey state prison. If convicted of the weapons offenses, Pearson faces up to 10 years in a New Jersey state prison.

  The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Caitlin Sidley of the Office’s Major Crimes Bureau.
