FREEHOLD – An Aberdeen man was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted on sexual assault charges against a minor, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Jonathan McDermott, 38, was sentenced on March 1 to 20 years in state prison for numerous sexual attacks on a minor over the course of two years. McDermott will need to serve all 20 years before he is eligible for release. He will also be required to register under Megan’s Law and will also be subject to Parole Supervision for Life upon release.

In February 2018, the minor came forward to tell law enforcement about the numerous sexual incidents McDermott committed to her between June of 2015 and April of 2017. The victim was younger than 13 years old during this time period.

McDermott plead guilty to sexual assault charges on October 15, 2018.
