
MANALAPAN — Authorities are investigating a late-night collision in Manalapan that left a 72-year-old woman dead, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Friday.
Police were called at about 10:56 p.m. Tuesday to the southbound side of Route 9 near 355 Route 9 and Russell Court, according to prosecutors.
Investigators said a man driving a 2018 Nissan Frontier in the left lane struck a pedestrian, identified as Deborah Ross, 72. The impact threw her onto the right shoulder of the highway.
Ross was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:26 p.m., authorities said.
The driver stayed at the location following the crash.
The investigation is being handled by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and the Manalapan Police Department. Officials said the case remains active.
