NEPTUNE – Route 33 has been reopened following an accident that injured one person, according to police.

Earlier in the day, police reported that Route 33 was closed between West Jumping Brook and Jumping Brook Road. The closure was due to an accident in which an SUV veered off the roadway and into a tree and another vehicle.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene. One individual involved was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, police reported.

The roadway was reopened just before 2 p.m.
