Code Red From Belmar Police: Be Wary Of Wild Animals

BELMAR – Belmar Police are urging residents to practice caution after a dog was attacked by a raccoon in Lake Como’s Behrman Park on March 21.

According to police, a woman was walking her dog in the park at approximately 7:45 a.m. when the raccoon attacked the dog unprovoked. The dog and its owner were not injured in the incident.

Police and Monmouth County SPCA responded, however they were unable to capture the raccoon.

Belmar Police stated: “While no one was injured in this particular incident, we continue to encourage our residents to be vigilant and cautious around any wild animals and if you see any animals that are acting strangely or aggressive please contact the Belmar Police Department immediately.”
