NEPTUNE — For the second time in just over a year, lightning has figuratively struck at the ShopRite complex in Neptune, where a lucky New Jersey Lottery player claimed a $446,593 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot Tuesday night.
The winning ticket was purchased at the ShopRite grocery store at 2202 Route 66—just steps from the liquor store that famously sold the $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot ticket in March 2024. Tuesday’s winning numbers were 03, 14, 23, 28 and 30. The XTRA number was 02 and the Bullseye was 14.
The winner, a regular lottery player who shops weekly at the store, said they were stunned—but not entirely shocked—by the win.
“I told myself that I’m going to hit the lottery real soon,” the winner said. “I can’t breathe, I have to exhale! I can’t even focus today.”
The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. This marks the 34th Jersey Cash 5 jackpot hit so far this year.
Neptune’s ShopRite isn’t alone in its streak of high-dollar wins. Other New Jersey retailers with multiple major prize wins since 2020 include:
White Oak Liquors, Belleville: $4.9M (Pick-6, 2020), $1.25M and $617K (Jersey Cash 5)
ShopRite of Spotswood, Middlesex County: Two wins in May and June 2025 totaling over $650K
Luigi Market, South Toms River: $4M (Mega Millions, 2024), $719K (Jersey Cash 5)
Quick Mart, Clifton: $1.75M (Jersey Cash 5), $1M (Powerball)
Soda King, Manalapan: $3.7M (Pick-6), $1M (2024)
According to the New Jersey Lottery, such repeated wins at single locations are rare but not unheard of. The Lottery partners with over 6,500 retailers across the state. Odds of winning the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot are about 1 in 1.2 million.
