MANCHESTER – Three people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 70 that police say may have involved impaired driving.
The collision happened around 12:30 p.m. on September 10 at the intersection of Route 70 and Woodview Drive. According to Manchester Township police, a 2021 Hyundai Elantra heading west veered onto the shoulder before attempting a sudden U-turn across traffic. A 2016 Mack tri-axle roll-off dumpster truck behind the car tried to swerve left, but struck the Hyundai, pushing it toward a median.
The Hyundai’s driver, Shakiya Duncan, 33, of Atlantic City, suffered internal injuries and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. Passenger Dajuan Daniels, 19, of Atlantic City, was also transported there with non-life-threatening injuries. A second passenger, Jessica Almanzar, 35, of Manchester, was taken to Community Medical Center as a precaution. The truck’s driver, Peter Lewis, 69, of Jackson, was not injured.

Police said suspected drugs were found in the Hyundai, and improper turning along with possible impairment are considered factors in the crash. DWI and other charges are pending.
Emergency crews from multiple fire departments, Manchester EMS, Robert Wood Johnson paramedics, and Priced Rite Towing assisted at the scene. The investigation is ongoing with the Manchester Police Traffic Safety Unit.
