MANCHESTER — Three area men suffered injuries after a serious motor vehicle crash at Ridgeway Road and Beacon Street in the Oak Knoll section of town Tuesday morning.

Manchester Township Police reported that at 6:19 a.m., a 2005 Dodge Ram pick-up had extensive driver’s side damage and a deployed airbag.

Two other vehicles–a red 2016 Nissan Altima and black 2017 Nissan Sentra–were disabled in the travel lanes on Ridgeway Road. The Altima sustained extensive front-end damage and a deployed airbag.

Police said the Altima collided into the rear of the Sentra, and then hit the Dodge Ram head-on. The Ram rolled onto its driver’s side, slid, and rolled back upright.

Robert Chew, 45, of Beachwood, the driver of the Altima, was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. He was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for leg injuries.

Francisco Velasco II, 26, of Jackson, was also wearing his seat belt while driving his Dodge Ram. He was taken to Community Medical Center for non-life-threatening head and leg injuries.

Christopher Degaetano, 34, of Toms River, driving the Sentra, was wearing his seat belt and was uninjured.

The road was partially closed for several hours this morning while police investigated.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Manchester Volunteer Fire Company, Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company, and Quality Medical Transport.

This crash is being investigated by Officer Ian Bole of the department’s Traffic Safety section and Officer Keith Douglas from the Patrol Bureau.
