MANCHESTER – A man was left injured after being hit by a car involved in a three vehicle crash, police said.

The incident occurred around 12:10 p.m. on November 22 in the area of Columbus Boulevard and Pilgrim Court. According to police, 84-year-old Eleanor Finke of Manchester was driving east on Columbus Boulevard when she hit an unoccupied Penske Truck on the driver side. Finke continued to accelerate where she impacted a parked, unoccupied Suburban on the rear driver side.

After hitting both vehicles, bystanders on scene tried to help Finke control her car. One bystander, 32-year-old, John D. Dekyne 3rd, was struck in the right leg by Finke’s car which continued to accelerate after the impact with the Suburban. After hitting Dekyne, police said Finke’s car came to a stop.

Dekyne suffered a minor injury to his right leg and was brought to Community Medical Center via ambulance for further evaluation. Police said Finke did not sustain any injuries from the crash.

Assisting at the scene were EMT’s from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Medical Services.

At this time, the investigation into the crash is ongoing. However, police believe unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and driver inattention are the contributing factors in the crash.
