Over $3K Worth Of Heroin Seized In Ocean County Traffic Stop

MANCHESTER — Township police seized $3,000 worth of Narcotics on Oct. 29 and arrested two Mercer County residents who had been stopped on Route 571.

  Jymeir Johnson, 25, of Trenton was driving near the intersection of Commonwealth Boulevardwhen he was stopped by members of the Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) at a Circle K parking lot for a motor vehicle violation.  

  Upon further investigation police searched the vehicle and its two occupants.  The search revealed approximately 430 bags of heroin, a quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $1,100 in cash.  The recovered heroin has an estimated street value of over $3,000.    

Johnson was charged with one count each of Conspiracy to Possess and Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin, Failure to Surrender a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), and Loitering to Distribute CDS.  Johnson’s passenger, 25 year old James Edwards was charged with one count each of Possession and Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Surrender a CDS, and Loitering to Distribute CDS.  

  Both were released on summonses for the criminal charges and Edwards was released on his own recognizance’s for an unrelated outstanding warrant out of Trenton.

  The $1,100 that was recovered as well as the 2005 Volvo S40 that was driven were seized, pending forfeiture.  Also assisting in the investigation were members of the Manchester Township Police K9 Unit and Patrol Bureau.
