
FREEHOLD — A 73-year-old woman from Whiting was killed in a multi-vehicle crash at a busy intersection in Freehold Township, authorities confirmed.
The fatal collision occurred on January 7 around 9:38 a.m. at the intersection of Monmouth Road (Route 537) and Siloam Road (Route 527), according to Freehold Township Police Lt. Joseph Winowski.
The victim, identified as Joanne Fischer, was trapped inside one of the vehicles and suffered severe injuries.
Emergency responders extricated her and she was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Patrolman William Sabin and the department’s Serious Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Patrolman Sabin at 732-462-7908.
No additional injuries or charges were immediately reported.
